Changing just one piece of the text
You do not have to redo the whole email because one sentence does not sit right.
Select the bit you do not like with the mouse. A small button appears: press “Quick edit”, say what you want (“shorter”, “friendlier”, “in Spanish”) and only that piece changes.
Step by step
-
Select the text
Drag the mouse over the sentence or paragraph you want to change, inside the reply box.
Where it is, inside the window. -
Press “Quick edit”
A small floating bar appears with two options: add it to the chat, or quick edit.
Where it is, inside the window. -
Say what you want
“Shorter”, “less blunt”, “more formal”, “translate it into Spanish”, “drop the part about the price”. One sentence is enough.
-
Accept or reject
You see the change marked up. Accept it if you like it; reject it and everything stays as it was.
Where it is, inside the window.
Tips
- The other option in that bar, “Add to chat”, sends the passage to the assistant so you can discuss it without changing it.
- It works the same on text somebody sent you: select it and ask for an explanation.
Common questions
Will it change the rest of the email?
No. Quick edit only touches what you selected.
