Making it bigger and easier on the eyes
If the text is too small or the screen tires your eyes, all of this is a one-minute fix.
Zoom the whole window with ⌘/Ctrl and the + key. Switch between light and dark with the moon button near the bottom of the icon bar. And drag the dividers between panels to give the message more room.
Step by step
-
Make the text bigger
Press ⌘ and “+” on a Mac, or Ctrl and “+” on Windows, as many times as you need. ⌘/Ctrl + 0 puts it back to normal.
-
Switch to dark mode (or light)
Near the bottom of the icon bar there is a moon or sun button. Dark mode is kinder at night; light mode reads better in daylight.

Give the email more room
Drag the line between the list and the open email to the left. You can also hide the mailboxes and close the assistant when you are not using them.

Put the app in your language
Settings > Language sets the language of the buttons and menus. It does not touch your emails.

Tips
- Inside a particular email you can press “Full width” so the text uses the whole window.
- The reply box can be made taller by dragging its top edge; double-click resets it.
Common questions
Can I enlarge only the message text and not the whole app?
Zoom applies to the whole window, which is usually what you want. If one email arrives in tiny type, try full width together with zoom.
